Summer Reading Lists 2013
Summer is a great time to catch up on your reading.  And if you read in the summer, you will keep up in your reading skills.  The Summer Reading Lists are suggested titles for you as you enter your next grade in the fall.  However, you can read anything you like in the summer!
Look at the Summer Reading Lists link on our school's homepage or look on this library web page on the right where you will also see a link.
If you fill out your documentation about what you read and turn it in to your new teacher when school starts in September, you can earn extra credit!  Not only that, if you participate in the Prince William County Public Library summer reading program you can receive other benefits.  Stay tuned for more information about how to register for the summer reading program at the public library!
Great Websites for Kids
Are you looking for one spot on the web to find well-reviewed websites geared for kids?  If so, you may want to take a look at Great Websites for Kids!  A committee made up of members of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, selected these websites.
The websites range from Animals to Literature to History to Reference, and much more.  Check a few out!

Reading is FUNdamental!
Our school participates in the Reading is Fundamental program (R.I.F.).  Through this program, every student in our school receives a free book.  The books are provided through the support of the U.S. Department of Education, corporations, foundations, community organizations, and thousands of individuals.

In December we had our first distribution of the year, with a  Winter Wonderland theme.  For more information about R.I.F. see

Public Library Card Drive!!
We are happy to announce that 295 Marumsco Hills students returned applications to get their library cards from the Prince William Public Library system!  We know the students and their families will enjoy many great services and books at the Prince William Public Library.  Potomac Library is the closest branch to our school.  If you didn't make our deadline, you can still go online to find the application, or stop by Potomac Library in person, to apply for a library card.

We are thrilled our students want to keep reading and learning with the FREE resources at our local public library!

PebbleGo Database!
Marumsco Hills has subscribed to four databases in PebbleGo!  Their titles are PebbleGo Animals, PebbleGo Earth and SpaceSocial Studies, and PebbleGo Biographies.

Each database is designed for student researchers of any age. "Enriched with spoken-word audio, text highlighting and audio and video clips, PebbleGo builds a foundation of research skills for every learner." - PebbleGo.com

Students were given a bookmark with the username and password so they can access the databases at home at anytime.

Click on this link to get to the PebbleGo login page.
